Network News

Hello again, Since the last report I wrote, Network has been increasing in numbers and events. The Network Committee and myself have a set of polices for the county regarding Nights Away and Accident reporting, both of which are to be found in this issue of Scoutabout. These policies are for adult members of Scout Network, however the rules regarding Nights Away apply to all adults in Scouting.

Sun Run

The County Network will be attending the Sun Run event in Cheltenham during the weekend 8- 10 July 2005. During the weekend there will be the opportunity to take part in the either the Sun Run (26.2 miles) or Moon Run (13miles). Both are team events and start at sunset on the Saturday evening. 3 network members from Northants won the Moon Run last year. Both Friday and Saturday nights there are disco and live bands. During the day there are football and other competitions and a number activities. Full details at www.sr-mc.org. The cost of the weekend is £26.00, this includes camp fees, activities and FOOD. Transport to the event is not included however I will help coordinate people to enable them share lifts. If you wish to go to the Sun Run, please contact myself at the details below.

Explorer Belt

During July three Network members from Northants will be attempting their Explorer Belt in Northern Italy. They will be travelling for 10 days from Bologna to Venice. During which they have a major project and 10 minor project to complete. When they come back they have to do a presentation to the Network about their trip.

Dates for your Diary

Network Summer BBQ at County Centre on 13 June 2005, 7.30 - 9.30pm. During this event, We will be setting the 10 minor projects for their Explorer Belt. There will also award information and advise available. Please bring your own food and drink.

Pre-University Send Off Event at Spotley Wood Campsite, Castle Ashby District, on 10 September 2005, 7.30pm onwards. During the evening the 3 Network members who completed their Explorer Belt expedition will be giving a presentation on their trip. If people wish to stay over they can do so but places are limited so will need to be booked with myself, Camping Fee £1.50 per person.

Queens Scout Award I have just approved the Queens Scout Award for Hannah Frasier, who completed her award while in Explorers in Castle Ashby District. During her award she did her residential project in Canada and help at her local cub pack. This is a great achievement by Hannah and I am sure you will congratulate her.
